Working to become Dementia Friendly

Dated: 14-Jun-18

Dementia Friendly LogoRingmead Medical Practice is committed to becoming Dementia Friendly in 2017. One of the first steps in this is to ensure all staff become “Dementia Friends”. To date all receptionists, administrators and Health Care Assistant staff have attended Dementia Friends training provided by the Local Dementia Action Alliance team. Members of the Patient Participation Group have also attended this training.

A Dementia Friend learns a little bit more about what it's like to live with dementia and then turns that understanding into action - anyone of any age can be a Dementia Friend. Whether you attend a face-to-face Dementia Friends Information Session or watch our online video, Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about Dementia Friends to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.

The local Dementia Advisor at Bracknell Forest Council, Karen White, produces a newsletter packed with information for patients and their carers. Please email her if you would like to be added to the distribution list.

There is lots of information available to you on the Bracknell Forest Website so rather than replicate it all here – please visit the Bracknell Forest Council website for more information.

Or visit The NHS Website for information about Dementia - especially if you are worried you or a friend/family member may be at risk.

Please encourage them to make an appointment with their GP.

Dementia Drop In Sessions

Ringmead Medical Practice are delighted to work with local services during World Alzheimer’s month this September

We will be hosting drop in sessions for anyone interested in finding out more about dementia and/or local support services for people with dementia and their carers

There will be a stall set up in our waiting room with representatives from the following organisations:
  • Bracknell Memory Clinic
  • The Alzheimer’s Society
  • Signal4Carers
  • Healthwatch
There will be time set aside for private consultation if you wish you can speak to an advisor confidentially. These slots will be limited so it is best to book in advance – please ask at reception.

This may also be the chance to get your flu vaccine. The seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and the person you care for from flu, and will prevent you being stopped from being able to care.

Please book with reception.
  • Thurs 27th Sept 1030-1230 @Birch Hill
  • Fri 28th Sept 930-1130 @Great Hollands
